One of the seventy-two SPIRITS OF SOLOMON, Orias is also listed as a count of Hell and a mar- quis who commands thirty legions (see COUNTS of Hell and Marquis of Hell). The demon of divination, he is said to appear before his summoner as either a lion or as a lion-faced man, riding a horse with a snake for a tail. In each hand he is carrying a snake or two snakes in his right hand; sources vary. This demon is invoked because he is an expert in astrology and by the use of metamorphosis can change the appearance of any man. Additionally, he can also grant dignities and prelacies with confirmation as well as foster relations with friends and foes.
