Boreas

Boreas, also known as Aquilo or Septentrio, is the Greco-Roman god who personifies the cold north wind and was seen as the bringer of winter.

He is one of the Anemoi, the four principal wind deities of Greek mythology, who were the progeny of Eos and Astraeus or Typhoeus. The three other Anemoi were ZephyrusNotus and Eurus.

Boreas' most famous myth was his story with Orithyia, a princess of Athens. He tires to impress the young woman, but she refused his advances. The god decided to abduct the princess, while she was dancing on the shores of Ilisos. He eventually married her in the clouds, and had several children wit her: Zethes, Calais, Chione and Cleopatra.
